G. W. "Mike" McDonald

Mike passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018.

Mike was born in Tyler on March 28, 1935, to the late Warren Swan McDonald and Gertrude Talbert McDonald. After graduating from Tyler High School in 1953, Mike attended the University of Texas at Austin. While at UT he was active in his fraternity Kappa Sigma. Later, he went to Sul Ross University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology. Mike worked in the oil and gas industry for over 50 years, but to him it wasn’t work, it was an everyday joy.

Mike was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends, as well as sharing this love with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pat Zschach McDonald, his children Mary McDonald Lowe, Judith Wolters and husband Bryan, Warren McDonald and wife Martha, his grandchildren Mary Cagle Redinger, Henry Lowe, Brendan Wolters, Brandt Wolters and Andrew McDonald.
