

Virginia Ann “Ginger” Ellis was born September 2, 1939 in Gladewater, Texas to Elbert Louis Baker and Martha Opal Barber-Baker. She passed away on Monday, May 29th in Tyler. She grew up and attended school in Tyler. In 1957, she met the love of her life Francis Joe “Fizz” Ellis whom she married on June 1, 1957. With that marriage, Ginger began her career as a wife and mother. She was blessed with 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren all of whom she adored and to whom she devoted her life.
She was a longtime member of Gateway Baptist Church in Whitehouse. Her love of the church led to her involvement in the library, the kitchen management, cooking for all occasions, and her title of “The Pie Queen!”
Ginger will be remembered by all for her loving nature, her welcoming smile, and her love of all things fun!
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fizz Ellis; her parents, Elbert and Opal Baker; brothers, James Louis Baker, James Jackson Baker; sister, Mary Alice Hensley. She is survived by Son, David (Brenda); daughter, Lisa (Rob), daughter, Ellen; brothers, Ronnie Baker and Johnny Baker; sisters, Susie Graves and Martha Burks; 5 grandchildren - Chad, Heather, Brandy, Kenny, Will; 7 great grandchildren - Ashlynn, Landon, Channing, Hayden, Harper, Hendrix, and Brynlee as well as many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 1st from 5-7 p.m. at Lloyd James Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2023 at Lloyd James Funeral Home with burial following at Flint Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Landon Harris, Will Barber, Cody Baker, Bubba Baker, David Harris and Johnny Baker.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gateway Baptist Church— 101 Leisure Lane, Whitehouse, TX.
