

On Thursday, July 1, 2021, Gwendolyn Perdue Kee, loving mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother gracefully entered heaven at the age of 99. She was the daughter of Margaret and Leonard Perdue. She was born December 10, 1921 in Maud, Texas and was a long time resident of Tyler, Texas.
Gwen attended business school, worked as a bookkeeper for Singer and as a legal secretary for a law firm in Tyler. She was married to Ben Roberts Kee on December 6, 1942 and they were married for 44 years. They raised 2 sons, Scott and Bob, and one daughter, Judy.
Gwen had a passion for people and a true servant's heart. She modeled a humble and unselfish spirit and lifestyle. She served her family so well, taking care of them and so many neighbors and extended family. She drove people to their appointments and church when they needed. She never wanted to put anyone out and on her lips was always the phrase, “What can I do to help?” Her husband referred to her as “A Saint.
Gwen was a den mother for Boy Scouts, Camp Fire Leader, volunteered at Pollard United Methodist Church in the office, volunteered at the Salvation Army and Meals on Wheels. She loved big band music, and as a young person played the piano, violin, mandolin and ukulele. She sewed, baked, and created the most wonderful holiday memories for her family. Gwen loved the water and spent many hours at the lake with her family.
Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Roberts Kee, and her first born son, Fred Scott Kee. She is survived by her son, Robert Leonard Kee (Lovely);daughter, Judy Ruth Curley (Steve); daughter -in-law, Jane Kee; eight grandchildren: Judy Katherine Southworth (Scott); Ben Wesley Kee(Jamie);Christopher James Kee (Sarah), William Alexander Kee, Ben Roberts Kee., Erin Elizabeth Mitchell, Meghan Margaret Gallegos(Flip) and Emily Curley Geister (Brandon), eight great-grandchildren: Ryan, Ava, Benaiah, Vivienne, Mason, Elora, Steven and Marlee.
A celebration of Mrs. Kee’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Pollard United Methodist Church with Rev. Collin Taylor officiating, under direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery in Tyler. The family will receive friends at Lloyd James Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Salvation Army or Pollard United Methodist Church (3030 Copeland Rd., Tyler, Texas 75701).
