James Robert Cross

Graveside services for James Robert Cross, 81, of Tyler are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday September 16, 2015 in Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Sherman Mayfield officiating. A visitation will be held at Lloyd James Funeral Home following the graveside service. Arrangements are under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.

Mr. Cross passed away Monday, September 14, 2015.

James was born October 12, 1933, in Dallas to James D. and Mary Vickers Cross. James graduated from East Texas State College, now Texas A&M Commerce, with a Bachelor of Science degree. James retired from the Texas State Highway Department in 1992. “Papa” was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

James is survived by wife of 50 years, Pat M. Cross; daughter, Patti M. Ellis; her children : Amy Ellis Ashwood and husband Brandon; Lindsay Ellis Wampler and husband John; Emily Catherine Ellis; great grandchildren: Ellis Ann Ashwood, Elizabeth James “Betsy” Ashwood and John H. Wampler III “Harlan” due October 6th. James is also survived by son Michael Matise and wife Sandra and their two daughters, Michelle and Cynthia Matise of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Arthur Paul Cross.
