

“The Mr. Maxwell” had his homecoming to Heaven on Friday, May 23, 2014. A final celebration of his birthdays will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, his 65th birthday, at Lloyd James Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Matthew Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Tyler Memorial Cemetery.
James Paul Maxwell, 64, of Whitehouse, passed away on Friday in Longview after a short illness.
Paul was born on May 28, 1949 in Tyler to the late James Polk and Elizabeth Ash Maxwell. He retired after 24 years as a history and government teacher at Whitehouse High School. He graduated from John Tyler High School and Stephen F. Austin. He loved his country and collected eagles. He was a long time member and officer at Whitehouse Volunteer Fire Department.
Paul was a former Whitehouse City Councilman. He was honored numerous times by Boy Scouts of America and was a mentor to many at Loomis Armored.
He is survived by his wife, Nita Maxwell of Whitehouse; son, Payton Maxwell and his wife, Karen of Chapel Hill; two daughters, Leigh Wilson and her husband, Chase of Whitehouse and Melinda Hage and her husband, J. K. of Leander; grandchildren, Macy and Kylee Maxwell, Maxwell and Cole Wilson and Emily and Megan Hage; sister, Lila Tapp and her husband, Hardee of Tyler; and nephew, Todd Aaron of Tyler.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
