Kathryn Gour Ashley

Kathryn Gour Ashley, age 77, of Tyler, formerly of Jacksonville, passed away in the late afternoon hours of Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. She was born on September 23, 1934 in Jacksonville to Willie Lonnie and Ora Belle (Byerly) Davis; they preceded her in death. Kathryn was a homemaker in her early years and took pride in being able to raise her children. She took her love of children and began a 35 plus year career with childcare. She touched a lot of lives and will be greatly missed by those who were blessed to have known her. Kathryn was also an active member of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler.

She is survived by two children, Glenn Ray Tillman, and wife Janice, and Phillip Wayne Gour, and wife LaDawn; grandchildren, Jerry Tillman, Terri Tillman, Ashley Gour, Hillary Gour, Hannah Gour, Sarah Flores, Dillon Grimes, and Amanda Carlson; great-grandchildren, Haden Gour, Bridgett Gour, Kinsey Carlson, Cooper Carlson, Ariana Flores, Alex Flores, and Emory Balazsy; and brothers, Burr Davis and Sneak Davis.

She was also preceded in death by daughter, Phyllis Kay Crymes; three brothers, W.J. Davis, Herschel Davis, and Marvin Davis and Grandson Raven.

Services for Ms. Ashley will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 13, 2012 at Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler with Brother Benny Portwood officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery near Troup with David Balazsy, Jerry Tillman, Ashley Gour, Dillon Crymes, Jason Wood, and Edward Flores serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
