Lanky attended Tyler Public schools, and saw duty with the Army air corps weather service as a C – 54 flight engineer ferrying personnel and equipment to weather stations.
He graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in architectural design and later studied in Mexico and France. After practicing in Tyler and serving as a design critic at Texas A&M, he worked for the Air Force, economic development administration and FAA.
Survivors include, nephew/ son, Steve Fountain, step son, David Ham and wife Lisa, six grandchildren, many great grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special appreciation to caregiver Pat Orr.
Grave side services will be at 11am Friday, October 8th 2021 at Cathedral in The Pines Cemetery with Brother Jerry Hanson officiating, under the directory of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
