A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 423 S Broadway Ave, Tyler, TX 75702, US, on May 22, 2026, at 10:00 am.

Final resting place will be Cathedral In The Pines, 7825 S Broadway Ave, Tyler.

Maria Luisa Rojas, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, and faithful servant of God, entered into eternal rest on May 7, 2026, in Tyler, Texas, at the age of 86.

Luisa was born on September 7, 1939, in Chocontá, Colombia, the youngest of ten children born to Martín Fernández and Resurrección Fernández. She was lovingly named after her paternal grandmother, Maria Luisa Prieto, a name she carried with grace, strength, and deep devotion throughout her life.

On July 16, 1961, Luisa married the love of her life, Enrique Rojas, in Bogotá, Colombia. This year, they would have celebrated 65 beautiful years of marriage, a testament to their enduring love, faith, and commitment. Together, they built a life centered on family, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion.

In 1971, Luisa and her family immigrated to the United States, settling in New York, where she began a new chapter raising her young children. While there, she remained deeply rooted in her Catholic faith.

While expecting her youngest child, Luisa and her family moved to Houston, Texas, where her presence quickly became a blessing to all who knew her. Through neighborhood gatherings, friendships, and the many children and families she cared for as if they were her own, Luisa brought joy, laughter, comfort, and stability into countless lives. She had a special gift: she fed you; she loved you, and she prayed for you. She did all three generously and without hesitation.

Her final chapter was spent in Tyler, Texas, where she continued her life of service caring for children, deepening her devotion to God, and serving as the family’s prayer warrior.

Luisa was known for her gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering devotion, but those who loved her most also knew her feisty, sassy personality that could make anyone smile. She loved the color purple, her parakeets, well-done chicken, and most of all, being surrounded by her family.

She was the beloved wife of Enrique Rojas; devoted mother to Nancy Rendon (Raul), Henry Rojas (Brenda), Jeannette Chernoff (Michael), and Sandra Rojas; proud and loving grandmother to Samantha Luisa Gade (Max), Robert Enrique Rendon, Ryan Raul Rendon (Helen), Ross Martin Rendon, Michael Alexander Chernoff II, and Bianca Arianna Chernoff (Sydney); and cherished great-grandmother to Lillian Luisa Gade and Grace Blaine Gade. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, extended relatives, godchildren, and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her kindness, faith, and love.

Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing that Luisa is now resting in the eternal peace with our Lord, reunited with family and friends that have gone before her. Her legacy of faith, love, strength, and service will continue to live within our hearts and through every life she touched.

Maria Luisa Rojas, una esposa devota, madre amorosa, abuela y bisabuela querida, y fiel sierva de Dios, partió al descanso eterno el 7 de mayo de 2026 en Tyler, a la edad de 86 años.

Luisa nació el 7 de septiembre de 1939 en Chocontá, siendo la menor de diez hijos de Martín Fernández y Resurrección Fernández. Fue nombrada amorosamente en honor a su abuela paterna, Maria Luisa Prieto, un nombre que llevó con gracia, fortaleza y profunda devoción durante toda su vida.

El 16 de julio de 1961, Luisa contrajo matrimonio con el amor de su vida, Enrique Rojas, en Bogotá. Este año habrían celebrado 65 hermosos años de matrimonio, testimonio de su amor duradero, su fe y su compromiso inquebrantable. Juntos construyeron una vida centrada en la familia, el sacrificio y la devoción.

En 1971, Luisa y su familia emigraron a los Estados Unidos, estableciéndose en New York City, donde comenzó una nueva etapa criando a sus pequeños hijos. Allí permaneció profundamente arraigada en su fe católica.

Mientras esperaba a su hija menor, Luisa y su familia se mudaron a Houston, donde su presencia rápidamente se convirtió en una bendición para todos los que la conocieron. A través de reuniones vecinales, amistades y los muchos niños y familias que cuidó como si fueran propios, Luisa llevó alegría, risas, consuelo y estabilidad a innumerables vidas. Tenía un don especial: te alimentaba, te amaba y oraba por ti. Y hacía las tres cosas generosamente y sin dudar.

Su último capítulo transcurrió en Tyler, donde continuó su vida de servicio cuidando niños, profundizando su devoción a Dios y sirviendo como la guerrera de oración de la familia.

Luisa era conocida por su espíritu gentil, su corazón bondadoso y su fe inquebrantable, pero quienes más la amaban también conocían su personalidad alegre, fuerte y pícara que siempre lograba sacar una sonrisa. Le encantaba el color morado, sus periquitos, el pollo bien cocido y, sobre todo, estar rodeada de su familia.

Fue la amada esposa de Enrique Rojas; madre devota de Nancy Rendon (Raul), Henry Rojas (Brenda), Jeannette Chernoff (Michael) y Sandra Rojas; orgullosa y amorosa abuela de Samantha Luisa Gade (Max), Robert Enrique Rendon, Ryan Raul Rendon (Helen), Ross Martin Rendon, Michael Alexander Chernoff II y Bianca Arianna Chernoff (Sydney); y querida bisabuela de Lillian Luisa Gade y Grace Blaine Gade. También deja atrás a muchos sobrinos, sobrinas, familiares, ahijados y queridos amigos cuyas vidas fueron tocadas para siempre por su bondad, su fe y su amor.

Aunque nuestros corazones están llenos de tristeza, nos regocijamos al saber que Luisa ahora descansa en la paz eterna con nuestro Señor, reunida con familiares y amigos que partieron antes que ella. Su legado de fe, amor, fortaleza y servicio continuará viviendo en nuestros corazones y en cada vida que tuvo el privilegio de tocar.
