

Owen Whitney “Bumper” Carr started his journey on Nov. 12, 1980, in Odessa. Throughout his life, he brought joy, laughter and love to those he knew. On Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, he fell asleep and he awoke in the loving arms of his Savior.
He leaves behind the only love of his life, wife, Shannon, of Tyler. He also leaves behind mother and stepfather, Carla and David Cheairs; father, Frank Carr; sister, Kyna and husband Trey Adams; sister, Dara and husband Trouper Gamble; niece, Emily Gamble; and nephew, Ryan Gamble. Also left to cherish his memory are his beloved grandmothers, Dorothy Whitney and Kathy Owen. Also left behind are his in-laws, Dee and Wendy Madewell and their children, Angie Caywood and husband Chase and son, Logan, Debbie Madewell, and Billy Madewell. His aunts, uncles, cousins and a multitude of friends will also cherish their memories, as will his loving "four-legged children" Bruiser McFluffenstein (Yorkie) and CoCo Le Crème (English bulldog). Welcoming Owen to his new heavenly home were his Papaw Dub and Papaw Arch, Grandma Locke and Granny, his brother-in-law, Josh, and his Cinnamonster.
Owen graduated in 1999 from Odessa High School (The Career Center). In 2003, he received a B.A. in psychology from Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Okla., and went on to obtain his masters in clinical psychology and neuropsychology with a specialization in school psychology from The University of Texas at Tyler in 2006. Owen worked for Anderson County Special Education Co-Op as an education diagnostician/L.S.S.P.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, at Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler. Services will be held Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. in the Lloyd James chapel. Interment will follow. A memorial fund has been set up in Owen's name at any Citizen's National Bank branch.
