

Services for Paul H. Long Jr., 84, of Tyler are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Lloyd James Funeral Chapel with Rev. Darryle Dunks officiating. Burial is at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Mr. Long passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 in Tyler.
He was born on September 11, 1926 in Thomasville, North Carolina to the late Paul Hedrick Long Sr. and Molly Pitts Long. He served in the U. S. Navy during WW II. He was formerly employed in sales for Georgia Pacific. He has lived in Tyler since 1974 and was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and an usher. He was a member of John Child’s Sunday School Class and the Highest Praise Choir. He was a Shriner, Shrine Clown aka “Twelve Yards” and a Scottish Rite 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of the Tyler Noon Rotary Club, TASCA and a volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Theodora Louise Long in 1998.
He is survived by his daughters, Paula Robbins and husband Donald of Canton, Barbara Long Patterson of Raleigh, NC, Suzie Oden and husband Johnny of Tyler and Patricia Bajali of Chandler ; son, Rick Long and wife Cindy of Tabor, Iowa; sister, Mary Jane Green of Miami, FL; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great grandchild and one canine son, Brownie.
Pallbearers will be deacons of Green Acres Baptist Church, Hoss Huggins, Bob Wells and Brownie.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 3100 Samford Ave., Shreveport, LA, 71103.
