Bob is survived by his daughter Heather Gilchrist of Tyler, daughter and son in law, Melissa and Tyler Danaher of Lindale, grandson Cody Danaher and his wife McKenzie, both of Lindale, granddaughter, Kadie Sullivan and her husband Cody and latest addition, great granddaughter Sydney Ryan Sullivan, all from Durango Colorado.
As a child, Bob's family moved around a lot, but he always enjoyed making new friends. He was a talker! He spent his young life in west Texas learning how to fish and hunt. He was a graduate of Longview High School. He excelled in Athletics, participating in football, basketball and track. He was a proud member of the Army. He loved his country, its history and watching westerns. He worked in the oil field until he decided he wanted something where he could be home with his family. He worked many years at Trane and then Kelly Springfield Tire Company until its closing. He went back to school after many years in the factory. He was so proud when he learned word and excel. Time off was spent with his family: camping in the mountains, boating and visiting military memorials and old battlefields. He was a collector of weapons and coins. He was an amazing shot and kept his guns new and old in pristine condition. Politics were near and dear to his heart. He could corner anyone anywhere and talk politics for days. He was a grill master as well and you better clean your plate if he prepared it! Bob took pride in all that he did, especially his yard!
He also supported and was passionate about groups such as Wounded Warriors, Hwy 80 Rescue Mission, Humane Society and The Salvation Army.
He was a loving father, grandfather, and loyal friend. He will be missed but never forgotten.
