Dale grew up in Iola, TX where he enjoyed the country life as a kid. He went to Jacksonville Baptist College where he met Lisa Ann Clark. They were married on December 4, 1976 in Sulphur Springs, TX.
They lived in Tyler where he worked for B & B. He went on to serve the City of Tyler until he retired. He earned the nickname "Preacher" when he worked for the city in the Street Dept. He wasn’t afraid to share his love of Jesus with anyone he met. He was an avid sports fan, always rooting for the Texas Longhorns and the Chapel Hill Bulldogs. He also loved wetting a hook out on any lake. Dale also loved playing music, guitar, and piano.
He is survived by the love of his life, wife Lisa Garrett; son Jason and wife Melissa Garrett of Troup, and grandchildren Ashley Toledo of Jacksonville, Hailey Hill of Troup, and great-granddaughter Ruth Toledo; daughter Tiffany and husband Westley Hall of Mineola; brother Jerry and wife Betsy Garrett of Jacksonville; sister Ethel and husband Billy NeSmith of Madisonville; brother-in-law Gary Clark and wife Ginny of Arp; also cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, niece Susan Garrett, and nephew Jimmy NeSmith, also numerous aunts and uncles.
One thing that Dale would want people to do is keep on smiling and love one another as Christ first loved the church. His favorite saying was "I love you" in sign language!
A time of visitation for Dale will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lloyd James Funeral Home, 1011 E. 1st St, Tyler, Texas 75701, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
