

Roudet Orville “Rudy” Turner, age 90, of Tyler, went to be his Lord and Savior in the late evening hours of Friday, January 4, 2013 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. R. O. was born on August 19, 1922 in Leakesville, Mississippi to Rev. L.K. and Maggie E. Breland Turner; they preceded him in death. Rudy proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. His service included being part of the cleanup at Pearl Harbor. R.O. graduated from Ole Miss University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering which led him to a 40 year career with Goodyear and eventually Kelly Springfield Tire Company in Tyler. Rudy married the love of his life, Jennie Patricia Iasiello, on April 28, 1945 in Bristol, Rhode Island. Together they have spent the next 67 years raising a family and living a lifetime of memories that will live on in the hearts of those who were so blessed to know R.O. and Jennie. Rudy served as the music minister at Sylvania Baptist Church for 18 years. Most recently, he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Green Acres Baptist Church. R.O. had a servant’s heart and worker’s spirit. He will be most remembered for the beautiful example he set for all to follow. Rudy was a man faithful to his God, his wife, his children and grandchildren who led with wisdom and with love. He had the purest smile at the mere sight of his beloved grandbabies. R.O. leaves behind a path of faith, hope, and love for all to follow.
R.O. is survived by his loving wife, Jennie, of Tyler; one son, Robert “Bob” Turner, and wife Benita, of Port Lavaca; two daughters, Tricia L. Mitchell, and husband Mike, of San Antonio, and June M. Hudson of Tyler; grandchildren, Kristi Bruening, Troy Turner, Adam Turner, Jennifer Swinney, Michael Mitchell, Randle Gibson, Niki Gibson, and David Hudson; great-grandchildren, Carly, Robin, Hope, Zeathe, Ken, Chazz, Junior, Carson, Cali, Brayli, Alex, and Kaelin; brothers, G.E. “Pete” Turner and Dr. R.D. “Brud” Turner; and by a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and loving friends.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, H.R. Turner and Dr. L.D. Turner, and by five sisters, Nelda Hollifield, Edith Perry, Theresa Dossett, Mae Gill and Jean Cooley.
Services for R.O. “Rudy” Turner will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Lloyd James Funeral Home with Dr. Darryle Dunks officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery with Cornell Beard, Randle Gibson, David Hudson, Chad Morris, Gary Turner, and Ken Turner serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 P.M., Monday evening, at the funeral home.erry, Theresa Dossett, Mae Gill, and Jean Cooley.
