Sid Dukeminier was born April 6, 1949, in West Point, Mississippi, to Emmett Dukeminier and Ruth Giglio Dukeminier. Sid lived his early years in both Houston and Tyler, Texas. He graduated from Lee High and attended Tyler Junior College. Sid lived most of his adult life in Houston where he worked various jobs including delivery to retail stores, printing machine operator and apartment complex manager. After retirement, Sid became a neighborhood fixture chatting with the local dog walkers and their pets, feeding the birds and squirrels, tending his flowers and plants, and enjoying his barbecue grill.
Sid passed away September 16, 2023, in Houston, Texas after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by an infant brother in 1941, his mother in 1979, and his father in 1997. He is survived by his sisters Dr. Clarice Dukeminier (and spouse Pat) of Fairbanks, Alaska; Dr. Donna Thompson (and husband David) of Schulenburg, Texas; Rebecca Everett of Denton, Texas; and his long-time partner William Burton of Houston, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A private interment ceremony was held at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery on September 27, 2023, with his brother-in-law, Rev. David Thompson, serving as officiant. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a donation to a local wildlife rescue or animal shelter be made in Sid's memory.
