Virginia Louise Bates

Services for Virginia Louise Bates, 91, of Tyler are scheduled for 1:00 P.M., Friday, May 31, 2013 at Lloyd James Funeral Chapel with Bro. Ron Shultz officiating under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.

Virginia passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 in Tyler.

She was born on October 30, 1921 in Huntsville, Alabama to William and Birdie Pearson Neill. She was a retired LVN and had worked for Dr. Joe Belue and Dr. David Fletcher. She loved reading, shopping, traveling and beautiful flowers. She was a member of Shiloh Road Church of Christ.

She is survived by a daughter, Janina Tindall and husband Lee of Whitehouse; sons, Neill Bates and wife Marilyn and Pud Bates all of Tyler; sisters; Lois Franklin of Tyler, Lorene Taylor of Huntsville, Alabama, and Jessie Hall of Guntown, Mississippi; brother; Bill Neill of Chattanooga, Tennessee; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pud Bates, one great-grandson, two brothers, and two sisters.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Lloyd James Funeral Home on Thursday, May 30, 2013.
