

Mass of Christian burial for Virginia Spiller, 94, of Tyler is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 23, 2011 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Father Gus Tharappel officiating. Burial is in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Virginia Orcutt Chadbourne Spiller was born January 4, 1917 in Port Arthur, Texas to Vaughn Russell and Bertha Baus Chadbourne and was raised in Beaumont, Texas. She married Jamie Madison Spiller on November 16, 1940 and, following his military service in World War II, they
lived briefly in Beaumont and Hawkins, Texas before moving to Tyler where they raised seven children. Virginia lived in Tyler for 64 years and passed away on May 18, 2011. She was predeceased by her husband who died September 10, 1996 in Tyler.
In addition to raising her children, she was active in the St. Gregory Elementary PTA, where she served as president; was active in the Altar Society and a Eucharistic Minister of Immaculate Conception Parish. She participated in the Meals on Wheels program for 25 years, also serving as a board member. Her hobbies included reading, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. Virginia was an avid and accomplished bridge player, participating in many tournaments.
She is survived by her children Danville Dale Spiller and his wife Carolyn of Dayton, Ohio; Jane Spiller Wilkinson and her husband Huber of Crawford, Texas; Susan Spiller Gates of Georgetown, Texas; Mary Virginia Spiller Neal and her husband Jim of Nacogdoches, Texas; Margaret Anne Spiller of Tyler, Texas; Martha Spiller Carney of Tyler, Texas; and John
Madison Spiller and his wife Beth of Tyler, Texas.
Her brothers and sisters include Jeanne Aldredge and late husband Dr. George Aldredge, Jr. of Dallas; Dan Chadbourne and his wife Eddye Ruth, of Bryan; John Chadbourne and the late wife Eloise of Dallas and the late Vaughn Russell Chadbourne Jr. of California.
Grandchildren include Tony Spiller, Sue Igleburger and her husband Jim; Joseph Gates and Luke Gates; Virginia Neal and Erin Neal; Matthew Spiller and wife Allison; John Carney II and wife Jennifer; Joyce Carney Mongeau and husband Phillip; Jennifer Carney; Jacob Carney; Jaime
Carney; and Christy Spiller, Lisa Spiller and Heather Spiller. She also is survived by fifteen great grand children.
Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
