Willis Vernon Jones

Services with graveside to follow for Willis Vernon Jones, 80, of Chapel Hill/Tyler are scheduled for Wednesday, 1:00 pm, June 21, 2017, at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Ford and Rev. Mike Bloodsworth officiating.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 6-8pm at Lloyd James Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Williams Cemetery.

Vernon passed away June 17, 2017 in Tyler. He was born on August 9, 1936 in Golden Meadow, Louisiana to the late Eunice and Oliver Jones. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family. He officiated high school, junior college football and basketball games all across the State of Texas and was inducted into the Tyler SBOA Hall of Fame for officiating from 1963 to 1981. He retired from La Gloria Oil and Gas Company after working for 40+ years.

Vernon is survived by his wife Rhonda Jones, sons Luke Jones and Michael Jones, daughter Susan, brothers Dale Jones, Jerry Jones, and David Jones, and sisters, Nora and Francis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Mark and his brother O.L.

Pallbearers will be Scott Ferguson, Jimmy Ferguson, Douglas Gilpin, Derek Gilpin, David Lee Jones and George DeWolf.
