
Wilson Oscar Smith, age 89, of Rusk, passed away in the late afternoon hours of Thursday, December 27, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Wilson was born on October 28, 1923 in Falco, Alabama to Samuel and Leona Kilcrease Smith; they preceded him in death. After high school, Wilson proudly served his country in the United States Army. He married the love of his life and best friend, Dorothy Elaine Cordell, in 1946 in Pennsacola, Florida and together they spent the next 64 years raising a family and living a lifetime of memories until her passing on October 23, 2010. Wilson retired from Dixie Cream Flour Company after 30 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
Wilson is survived by two daughters, Brenda Smith and Mignonne Snider; grandchildren, Jeffery Sandoval, William Knight, April Dickerson, and Shannon Simmons; and by numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Blondie Adair Smith and Donell Smith.
Graveside services for Wilson O. Smith will be held at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery with Chaplain Bob Harbuc officiating.
