

Bernard Dorsey, 80, of Weehawken, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, at Hackensack University Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Jersey City on October 24, 1942 to the late Bernard and Mildred Dorsey. Bernie was a Weehawken resident his whole life. For 30 years, he was a member of the Weehawken Police Force, retiring as a Captain in 1994. His biggest joy in life and the legacy he left behind was his family; wife and love of his life for 61 years, Patricia, son and daughter in law, Bernard and Gaetana; son Brian; and daughter and son in law, Suzanne and Brian Mera. He is also survived by his six adoring grandchildren; Nicole, Alexis, Matthew, Caroline, Madison and Owen.
Bernie’s Life Celebration will include visitation on Thursday, July 13, from 4-8 PM at Leber Funeral Home, 2000 Kennedy Blvd, Union City, NJ. A funeral prayer service will be offered on Friday, July 14, at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Friends and family may then gather at 10:30 a.m. mass at St. Lawrence Church, 22 Hackensack Avenue, Weehawken, NJ. Bernie will be laid to rest at Fairview Mausoleum, 501 Bergenwood Road, Fairview, NJ.
