Donato (Daniel) Sciarra

Donato (Daniel) Sciarra, 89, of Saddle Brook, formerly of Hoboken and Union City, died on Dec. 14, 2023 at Christian Health in Wyckoff. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Audrey, in 2004. He is survived by his loving children Daniel and his wife Marina, Debra Esnaola and her husband, Henry, Michele Ocejo and her husband, Jorge. Danny is also survived by his beloved and loving grandchildren, of whom he was very proud, Christine Orosz and her husband, Paul, Lauren Sciarra and her partner, Lucas Kalina, and Samantha Esnaola and her husband, Adam Odden. Danny is also survived by his adored great-grandchildren, Addison and Jackson Orosz. Danny was predeceased by his parents, Maria and Donato, as well as brothers and sisters, Johnny, Jimmy, Nancy, Gussie, Tommy and Tony. He is survived by his brothers, Michael and his wife, Kathy, and Marco, and his sister, Jennie Mets and her husband, Jimmy, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Danny was a proud, hard-working Teamster all of his life, working for Smith Transport for many years and also serving as president of Teamsters Local 560 in Union City. His passion for boxing and his love for Italian food (or just food in general!) was unparalleled. Friends and strangers would describe him as a “good man”, a “family man” and a “gentleman,” all descriptions that would bring him happiness and peace.

Friends and family may begin gathering on Tuesday, December 19, from 9 am -11am at the Leber Funeral Home, 2000 Kennedy Blvd, Union City, NJ. A Funeral Mass beginning at 11:30 AM at Sts. Joseph & Michael R.C.C. Union City N.J. Daniel will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery North Arlington N.J.
