She is survived by her devoted children Geri Iannaconi (Joe), Jim Mussi, and Edward Mussi (Laurie). She was the loving grandmother of Jennifer Iannaconi (PJ), Emily Fernandez (Joey), Liz Iannaconi, James Mussi, Catherine Ramsey (Chris), Keriann Mussi and Edward Mussi Jr. (Abbie), as well as great grandchildren Joey and Juliana Fernandez.
Mary had a long and full life. She was born on March 9, 1925 and was raised in Jersey City by her two loving parents Edward and Mildred Foley. Mary had two brothers, Edward and Gerard, and graduated high school from St. Michael’s High School in Union City. Following high school she worked as Traffic Manager at Ferguson Brothers Manufacturing in Hoboken, NJ.
Mary met the love of her life James (Jim) Mussi Jr. when she was a young girl growing up as neighbors in Jersey City. Jim’s sister Anne Marie was her best friend. They were married on June 28, 1947 and lived together for more than 70 wonderful years in Union City, NJ!
After Jim returned home from WWII, he and Mary would travel nationally and internationally to meet with other members of the Air Force Historical Society, Gunners Association, and the 303rd Bomb Group Hells Angels.
Mary was also an active member of St. Joseph & Michael Church and The Sacred Heart Society, where she served for one term as President and faithfully volunteered as part of the Veronica’s Veil kitchen staff.
Mary loved to read and only liked watching movies starring Clark Gable. She was quiet, but had a wicked sense of humor. She loved the New York Yankees and never missed the chance to catch a game. Blackberry brandy was her cure all for all of life’s ills and wrongs and she always had a kleenex on hand. Most of all, she loved her husband, Jim, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren fiercely and was always ready to open her home and heart to all those who needed it. She will be greatly missed by all her knew her.
The funeral will be on Saturday, December 18 at 9:30AM from Leber Funeral Home in Union City then to St. Joseph & Michael Church where at 10:30AM a mass will be offered. The interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, December 17 from 4 to 8pm.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.leber-fh.com for the Mussi family.
