Mr. Nathaniel Frank Barr Ph.D.

Dr. Barr was appointed Manager in the Office of Health and Evironmental Research(OHER) within the U.S. Department of Energy in 1978. Since November 1982 He served as Acting Director of the Human Health and Assessment of OHER. He retired in 1994.

Prior to his last appointment he was Director of the Division of Regional Assessments in the Office of Technology Overview since March of1978 and as Acting Director from 1976 to 1978.

Dr. Barr joined the Atomic Energy Commision in 1961 until its dissolution serving in various executive and technical positions. From 1956 to 1961 he served as both an Associate in Biophysics Division of Sloan-Kettering Institute and Assistant Professor of Biophysics at both Sloan-Kettering and Columbia University Medical College.

Dr Barr received a BS degree from Queens College and MA degree as well as Ph.D from Columbia University. He was a member of numerious professional and academic associations.

Dr Barr and his wife were world travelers visiting Europe, Asia, So. America,Alaska, Africa, Australia and the Middle East.

He is survived by his wife Cora Bidwell Barr,father of Linda Carole Barr(David S. Russell), Crissy (John) Collier, and Beth( Marc S.) Hoff; step-father of Karen Edensword (Dan Pritzker) and Diana Edensword (Billy Conway). He is also survived by 9 grand and 8 step-grandchildren.
