Aaron Sinclair was born January 6, 1957, at Fort Benning (Columbus), Georgia to Alfred C. Sinclair and Evelyn Sinclair, who preceded him in death. Aaron has three other siblings that also preceded him in death: Lamar Townsend, Mary Townsend, and Alfredia Perry.
He graduated from Deep Creek High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina, in 1978. Aaron showed athletic talents at an early age. He excelled in softball, wrestling, football and basketball. His football skills landed him a full scholarship to North Carolina Central University, where he majored in Psychology.
After three years at North Carolina Central University, Aaron enlisted in the United States Air Force, in 1981 as a Clinical Laboratory Technician, attending training here at Lackland AFB, TX. His leadership skills were quite apparent very early in his military career. In Basic Training, his Training Instructors appointed him Dorm Chief (head of approximately 50 new enlistees.) After Basic Training, Aaron completed Phase I of his clinical training at Sheppard AFB, TX then returned to Lackland for Phase II. Just a short trip down the road was his first duty assignment at Brooks AFB, TX.
On October 19, 1988, he was united in holy matrimony to Lucinda Ellen Griffin. In 1988, Lucinda and son Eric were re-assigned to Hessisch-Oldendorf AB, Germany and Aaron joined them the following year at Hahn AB. There Tyrone was born. The family returned to the continental US in 1991, to Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ. In 1997, they returned to their beloved Brooks AFB.
Aaron continued playing sports at every assignment in the Air Force, achieving many accolades and bragging rights as base champions. Not only did he play, but he also often coached unit and base-level teams in softball, basketball, and flag football. Aaron retired from the Air Force in 2007, after serving 26 years. Aaron was awarded a total of five Air Force Commendation Awards, one Unit Organizational Excellence Award, and six Air Force Outstanding Unit Awards, at least one for each assignment. After retiring from the military, he continued to serve his country as a federal employee at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. There Aaron continued to mentor young troops, and civilian employees alike.
Aaron credits his mother for his interest in cooking, especially NC style barbeque. He would try to perfect a restaurant dish his family enjoyed. After friends introduced him to smoking brisket, Aaron soon mastered Texas style barbeque, adding his own twist. His skills were highly sought after for base-wide fundraisers and local church community outings.
Aaron leaves to cherish his memory his wife Lucinda Sinclair of Live Oak, TX, sons Eric Sinclair of Converse, TX and Tyrone Sinclair of Live Oak, TX, his brother Dexter Sinclair of Fayetteville, NC, his sister Sharon Archer (Archie) of Raleigh, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and military family. His LOUD, annoying, contagious laugh is now filling the heavenly realm.
