Alicia S. Morales passed away on Tuesday morning, April 28, 2026, at the age of 87. Alicia, known to her family and friends as Licha, was born on October 12, 1938, in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, to her late parents Herminio and Josefina Santana. She spent most of her life in San Antonio, Texas, before moving to Georgia with family for her final years.
Licha enjoyed working as a talented seamstress for the Miller Curtain Company, before moving to Chicago with her husband Manuel and having their two children there. When they moved back to San Antonio to raise Manuel and Patricia, she loved spending time with family and traveling to visit family in Corpus Christi and Laredo. She relished traveling around the US to places like California, Louisiana, Georgia, Washington DC, and New York; but her favorite place to visit was always Las Vegas where she searched for the Wheel of Fortune slot machines. Once she was inside the casino she would say, “I hear Vanna!”. In her spare time as a homemaker, she loved creating personalized handmade Christmas stockings, which she lovingly gifted to family and friends. Her greatest joy in life was being a “Grandma Mom” and “Memaw” to her two amazing grandsons Mitchel and Manuel.
Alicia was known for being a warm-hearted, kind, generous, always welcoming, and gentle spirit. She was also strong-willed, independent, had a gift for storytelling and brought warmth to those around her. Alicia will forever be known as being a wonderful wife, a magnificent mother, a fantastic sister, a beloved tia, a fun cousin, friend to many and a truly loving beyond measures grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Morales was preceded in death by her loving husband, Manuel A. Morales; her 3 brothers, Herminio, Jr., Felix, Sr., and Raul; and her sister, Gloria Alicia.
She is survived by the nephew she raised, Frederico; her son, Manuel (Bianca); her daughter, Patricia (Elias); her grandchildren, Mitchel and Manuel III; and her brother, Antonio. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and many cousins also survive.
In keeping with her wishes, Mrs. Morales has been cremated, and Memorial Services will be held Thursday, May 7, 2026; 10:00am at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Rd, Universal City, TX 78148.
