Athelene E. Rowell

Athelene Elizabeth Martin Rowell, a native of Calion, Ark, and a resident of Universal City, Texas, died Tuesday, December 14, 2010. Born January 9, 1934, she was the daughter of Paul and Rubye Johnson Martin. She was one of ten children. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Donald Rowell; parents Paul Martin and Rubye Johnson Martin; two sisters, Maydean Braddock and Judy Ragon; two brothers, Leland “Buddy”Martin and Billy Martin. She is survived by two sisters; Polly Ross of Pascagoula, MS, and Diane Matherne of Gulfport, MS; three brothers, Paul Jr., Terry and Randy Martin, all of Eldorado, AR; and many nieces and nephews. Athelene worked for the Surgeon General at Randolph Air Force Base until her retirement. She will be best remembered for her love of Pekingese dogs—which she bred and enjoyed as pets. A visitation will be held on Monday, December 20, 2010 at the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Universal City, Texas from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 P.M. Interment will be Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with her husband at 9:45 A.M.
