

Bacilio Leon died Thursday, April 7, 2011 at his home in Universal City. With family and loved ones by his side, he passed peacefully into the gates of heaven.
Bacilio, 87 years old, was born in Marion, Texas. He was a resident and business owner in Universal City for more than 50 years.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Nira E. Leon and his seven children Yolanda Hill-DuBose, Olga Trevino, Maria Leon, Elizabeth Horne, Richard Leon, Larry Jones and Sabrina Butler. He is also survived by one of six siblings, Guadalupe Rodriguez of Converse. Bacilio was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-great grandchildren.
Born to a family of migrant workers, Bacilio learned early in life the meaning of hard work. After completing the second grade, he left school to work in the fields and to help support his family. He later moved on to work at Randolph Air Force Base in the civil service for 20 years. Then in pursuit of the American dream, he started a fast food convenience store before opening Leon's Restaurant in 1960, one of the first eateries in Universal City. He was a member of Cornerstone Church, The Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, San Antonio Restaurant Business Association, and the Woodlake Country Club.
A visitation will be held on Sunday April 10, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and funeral services will be held on Monday April 11 at 11:00 AM at Colonial Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum.
The Leon family would like to extend sincere gratitude to Harbour Hospice and Avionn Home Health for their services and loving care. In lieu of flower arrangements, the family would like to request flowers and plants that can be used in a memory garden planted at the family home in Universal City.
