

Billie Marie Syverson passed away Friday evening, October 3rd, at Beehive of Spring with family by her side. She lived to the wonderful age of 102 and enjoyed the time with her family up until the end. The family is saddened by her passing, but grateful for all the time we had with her. Those who knew Billie will remember her for her faith in God, her belief in the Catholic Church and her love and loyalty to family and friends.
She was the daughter of the late Will and Mary Schafer of Gainesville, TX and was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Douglas Wayne Syverson and by her son Michael William Syverson. She is survived and missed by her children: son Wayne Douglas and daughter-in-law Becky, daughter Lorraine and son-in-law Jack Curtis, and youngest son Albert and daughter-in-law Rose. She will be forever cherished and remembered by her 3 granddaughters Marcella, Janie and Genevieve and her six great grandchildren along with extended family and friends.
Billie was born in Gainesville, TX and spent most of her adult life as an Army wife and mother moving more than ten times both in the US and overseas. She met her husband while he was stationed in Camp Howze at the beginning of WWII. She was a gifted crafter and went from ceramics making wonderful nativity sets, to knitting and crochet, which she taught to her granddaughters as well as many counted cross stitch and paintings which can be found and enjoyed on the walls in homes of family and friends near and far.
A Committal Services will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209 on Thursday October 16th at 2:00 pm.
