

Danielle Jane Yano, age 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Gruene Senior Living in New Braunfels, TX. She was born on August 12, 1946, in Altadena, CA to Leland and Rosemary (Rinehart) Whitmer and was the younger of their two children. She grew up in San Gabriel, CA and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1964. While growing up, her family would take summer trips in the car to visit relatives in Kentucky, Ohio, and Michigan, sparking her lifelong passion for road trips and travel.
Danielle married her first husband, Larry Hopkins, in 1968. They had three children: Julie, Robin and James. They were divorced in 1990. Danielle then met Laurence (Larry) Yano and they married in 1993. During their marriage they resided in Escondido, CA, Springfield, VA and eventually settled in San Antonio, TX where they retired. Larry passed away in 2023. For most of her career, Danielle worked in Human Resources for several companies. Her hobbies and interests throughout her life included singing in her church choir, playing bridge with friends, knitting for her grandchildren, going to movies and concerts, eating out at restaurants and after retirement, extensive traveling.
Danielle is survived by daughter Julie (Hopkins) Snodgress and her husband Sean and their three children Jacob, Joseph and Keria, daughter Robin Hopkins and son James Hopkins and his wife Heather and their three children Douglas, Daphne and Delaney.
She is predeceased by her husband, Larry; her parents, Leland and Rosemary; and her sister Mary Frances.
