

Mr. David Cantu died on Monday, January 06, 2014 at the age of 58 years. He was born to Hilario Cantu and Minerva Ramirez Cantu on December 18, 1955 in Eagle Pass, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; and survived by his wife of 38 years, Olivia Cantu, Son and wife, Gabriel (Anna) Cantu; Daughter and husband, Melissa (Matthew) Garbett; Grandchildren, Gabriel, Joni, Amanda, Eric, Joseph, Vincent, and Sadie; Brothers, Edward Cantu and Larry Cantu; Sisters, Esperanza DeLeon, Minerva Alvarado, Angie Rodriguez, Lucia Garcia, Lydia Rodriguez, and Amy Campa; Numerous Nieces and Nephews. David was a man of God loved serving other and was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Universal City, TX, and a Member of the Universal City Police Alumni Association (UCPAA). A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary recited at 7:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home. Monday, January 13, 2014 everyone is welcome to meet and be with the family at Colonial Funeral Home by 12:00 Noon. A funeral procession will depart at 12:30PM for a 1:00 PM Mass to be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma, Texas. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
Biography of David Cantu
David Cantu is and always was a man of God. He wore his faith proudly on his chest. David truly followed a lifelong code of God, Family, and Country, In that exact order and never shied away from defending them AND working relentlessly for their well being. He was so proud to be a member of the Knights of Columbus and would not let you forget that he was a fourth degree. He most recently became a member of the Universal City Police Alumni Association and committed his time to civic duties of volunteering. The other half of his time was committed to his family and most of all his grandchildren. David was the greatest Husband, Father, Grandfather, and friend anyone could ever pray for. All those touched by him have been inspired and it was a blessing to have him here in our lives, to share his love and laughter. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. The Lord blessed us with him and has decided that it is now time for him to rest, be relieved of all his pains and sickness's, and time to enter his Kingdom of Heaven. David has left us with a gift from GOD and his Angels which is so amazing and provides another testament to God's grace and presence. David Loves us all, we know his huge smile, is looking upon us, daily, providing us the vision, the strength, and the blessings we will need until we reunite.
