On November 29, 2023, Delphine(Del) Cruz Garcia got her wings and went to walk with the angels. She was 85 years old. Born in San Angelo, Texas, March 23, 1938. Del didn’t share the dream of stardom. Her dream was to get married and have children. She loved them dearly! She was central figure in the lives of her children.
Delphine is predeceased by her parents; Odilia Juarez Cruz and Benito Cruz. Brothers; Benito Cruz and Armando Cruz. Sister; Irene (Cruz) Jackson.
Del is survived by her husband; Joe of 66 years of marriage.Daughters; Edna, Yvette and husband Edward. Sons; Joseph, Charles and wife Tracy. Five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
It would be wrong to say that Del lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, she stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in her. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight.
She was also a master in the kitchen. She had a special flare for making especially delicious homemade meals for the family, which made our holidays even more joyous and memorable. She made the best crispy tacos! We all looked forward to the annual tamalada. We would all gather and eat her delicious tamales. She loved her bingo!
