

On May 20th 2026, Deve Damarcus Hays earned his heavenly wings at the age of 61, he was born December 10th 1964 in North Little Rock Arkansas to Freddie Lee and LeeDora Hays, Deve has 2 siblings, Shelia and Maurice Hays. Deve loved his family and friends, and would call them regularly to check up on them, he was quick to smile, had a great sense of humor, and loved encouraging people with a timely scripture.
Deve was an avid reader, and after accepting Christ at an early age, he loved reading and studying the Bible, with his favorite book being Proverbs, he also spent a lot of his time at the Schertz public library, where he was used in one of their advertisements to get people more involved in their services. Deve attended Judson High School and graduated in 1992. Deve was a proud Rocket and if he couldn’t attend the games in person, he would often listen to the games on his radio, one of his proudest achievements was earning his Associates degree from the National Institute of Technology in electronics in 1986. Deve also loved music, especially Jazz, and loved playing the drums.
Anyone that knew Deve also knew that he loved to eat, with his favorite being Chinese and also Seafood, he would often meet at one of his favorite restaurants with his sister Shelia, or his friend Mark Davis when he came town. Deve had a deep love for the Lord and was strong in his faith and witnessing for Christ, he loved his church family, and was a member of The Country Church in Marion Texas under the leadership of Pastor Butch Ikels.
Deve is preceded In death by his father, Freddie Lee Hays, and survived by his Mother LeeDora Hays, Sister Shelia Hays, Brother Maurice Hays, 2 Nieces Tajah Hays (Elijah and Sebastian), Talyce Hays (Penelope Jade) and a host of friends, family and church family.
Deve will be greatly missed, but we know that we will see him again!
Brunch and Visitation will be held from 10:30am to 11:30am. on May 29, 2026 at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. Funeral Service will be held from 11:30am to 12:30pm.
Graveside service will follow at Meadowlawn Memorial Park, 5611 E Houston St, San Antonio, TX 78220.
