Dorothy was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, to William Powell and Tennie L. Bracey on March 18, 1935. She attended and graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, with a degree in Business and Education. She briefly worked at Joske’s Department Store, and at Gulf Insurance, but her beloved career was ministry work.
She married the love of her life, James Harvey Brothers, on July 28, 1956. Together they raised three sons and pastored numerous congregations. Those congregations included Ingleside, Falfurrias, Beeville, and Glad Tidings in San Antonio. They were then the founding pastors of Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church, where they ministered for 23 years prior to retiring.
Dorothy is survived by James, her husband of 61 years, sons, Kenneth and Leslie Brothers, Larry and Tammy Marie Brothers, and Paul and Tammy Lea Brothers, grandchildren Tanya Chilldres Slaughter, Charles Chilldres, Bryan Brothers, Christopher Brothers, Shelby Brothers Yeoman, Morgan Brothers, 7 great grandchildren, and numerous family and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents.
