Daddy, where to begin...you are my hero first of all and you are what every man should aspire to be, loving, compassionate, generous, romantic, faithful with a wonderful sense of humor albeit a bit raunchy at times. 
I feel so blessed that I was able to spend some of your later years with you and you sharing some sweet stories of you growing up and your early years in the Army Air Corp We had so many special memories as a family.  I especially feel so proud that we shared a very special day, Fathers day, and my birthday periodically, you would take me to get ice cream and pie to celebrate.  You also saved my behind from trouble with mom on numerous occasions, but you always held me accountable for my actions too. I have many very fond memories of you, daddy, I will treasure forever. I love you so dearly I will miss you endlessly.

I first met Ed and Edna soon after moving back to Texas in 1996, 10 years after the death of my father. It was some holiday, and my mother's house in San Antonio was filled with friends and relatives. I learned that my parents had moved--in 1969 from Mississippi City, MS--onto the same street where the Bices lived in Universal City. 
My mother seemed sad and lonely without my dad or her friends from work. She was often sick, and I drove her to weekly doctors appointments at Lackland AFB. Then she and Ed began to see each other often. They got married. My mother seemed suddenly healthy and happy, and the newly-weds spent a few very good years together, staying active and cruising the seas.
When mom became more and more ill, Ed and his extended family provided her such wonderful care and demonstrated such great love.
 Farewell Ed! Thank you! From somewhere up in the wild, blue yonder, pray for us.

I love you so much, heaven has received another incredible angel to watch over us.

I love how you and Grannie brought up your children. So I am going to toot my own horn due to the fact dad (Thomas Bice) is the best father a girl could ever ask for. Y'all raised seven beautiful, amazing, wonderful children I am truly blessed to claim one as my own.

Goodbye to a wonderful person and a great gentleman. Ed always had a wonderful smile and a wicked sense of humor that always brought a smile to your face.  On my first visit to San Antonio,  Janet and I were staying with Ed and I mentioned I had never been in a hot tub before. Ed heated  the tub  that night  for us to use and     even brought us wine to drink. Cheers Ed,its a memory I will treasure.  

I knew Cmsgt. Edward Bice for nearly sixty years.  I found him to be one of the most eloquent,  hard working and patient men I have ever known. I never in all these years witnessed him angry with anyone.  He loved and treasured  each of his family members and was generous with all. He was truly a man of God, a member of the Greatest Generation.  RIP SIR, I will always remember and love you. I salute your memory and service to all.

What an amazing man Ed was, I feel so blessed to have had him in my life. One of the kindest and funniest guys you could ever meet. I never heard him complain, or say a bad word about anyone or anything. He was one of a kind and will be in my heart always ❤️ 

Our Uncle Eddie, I look at you as a true example of how to love life. Everyone of your family members and friends are blessed to see how you lived your life of unconditional love. I always enjoyed your visits to Clinton, drinking beer and shooting pool at the Silver Dollar, was priceless! When you two brothers were pool partners, you may have lost a game or two, but always took the championship! It was great to see you last winter in McAllen Texas, you came into town just to give brother Tim and I a pool lesson and ironically the place was called Fast Eddy's!! I felt proud when a few young guys came over to shake your hand and take pictures of you and dad, they saw your WWII and Korean veteran hats. You were both very humbled, but I knew the real reason you wore those hats were for free drinks. I loved your funny sense of humor saying, that it works every time! For sure you will be missed by all the people you have touched along your way , greatest uncle on earth! Steve

  Remembering my Dad, I think of Faith, family, and service, these were the driving forces in his life. 
  We learned about what family means, from watching him return home in the evenings to help with family bedtime routines. 
    I will miss him so much. How do I share the lifetime of memories and make them come close to the sensation of loss? I remember his laughter after he told a joke, his quiet strength during emergencies, and his organization...it’s not easy getting a family of 10 ready for a trip across the country. 
      He never threw anything away.  He could pull up any document from one of the two stuffed file cabinets! 
     Once, in an effort to get a household of teens back on track, he started getting us up early each morning, and would lead us in the Air Force exercises.... but only after we had family Rosary. 
    Oh, how I will miss him!  
    Every time I see a uniformed soldier, I know he is with us.  
    Each time I pass a golf course, I’ll know he’s probably up there playing a round of golf with his buds. 
    Every time I say the Rosary, I’ll hear his beads jingling along with me.

Goodbye for now Eddie, I'm sure God met you at the Pearly Gates and said you did GREAT Ed, come on in!

You were so sweet to be around. I drink more tea because of you (and a cocktail at 5:00). I read more because you gave me the large print Readers Digest. You never ruffled feathers. You always were soft spoken and always saw good in everyone. Your time with us in the Valley and in Clinton was so fun for us. The pool games were special for Pat and our boys. We will all miss you. You were loved by all.

Watching my Dad (Pat) and Uncle Eddie together always brought a smile to my face. They weren't just 2 old guys, they were brothers with the same sense of humor, the same way of thinking and they truly fed off each other when they were telling jokes, they would get so tickled telling the joke that sometimes it took forever to get to the punch line. When Uncle Eddie came to Clinton it was a given that they were going to have a beer and shoot some pool. Every late afternoon before dinner he would have a cocktail with my Mom(Helen). He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.      RIP Uncle Eddie

Although I had known some of the members of the Bice family for a number of years, I became a closer member of the family 20 years ago, when I moved to Texas and married the love of my life, Martin.

Since that time, I have been so thankful and humbled by the love and support given to me over the years, by every single member of the family.  The kind and loving qualities were no doubt, a testament to the special man, the patriarch of the family, Edward Martin Bice Snr.

Ed was definitely a 'man in a million' as was often the comment about him.  Many years ago, my daughter, just a young teenager at the time, asked Ed for some of his blood, when he asked her why, her response was "Because you are special and I want to clone you and make more of you".

He worked very hard to provide for his wife and family, often working two jobs. 

  He bore any burdens he faced, with grace and humility; never ever complained and always, when asked how he was, replied "Grrrreat".

His witty and humorous disposition made him a pleasure to be around and he often brought a little laughter and a touch of lightheartedness, to what otherwise were somewhat difficult situations.

Ed was steadfast in his strong faith, which I am sure helped him extensively throughout his life, dealing with life in World War II and being stationed in foreign countries, dealing with the loss of Edna and then later, of Lou,  his wives and of his eldest son, together with more recently his young granddaughter.
 
I am very grateful to have known this gentleman and to have had the privilege of helping him and helping care for him, together with his children, over the past two years.  If I can be just half the person he was, then I will be happy.

Ed Bice will, I am very sure, be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.

Dear Grandpa Bice,

I’m saddened that you are no longer with us, but my heart feels relief knowing you are in Heaven. You were the most selfless person I’ve ever met. You spent your life serving God, your church, your family, and your country. Your 99 years on this planet were truly extraordinary.

I have fond memories coming to visit you as a child. There was always a full house of aunts, uncles, and cousins. I loved running around the house, playing in the backyard and the park, and going to church together. You taught me card games and always had Cream Soda in the fridge.

As I got older, I enjoyed our visits in a different way. I loved telling you about college, my career, and my family and listening to your advice. Most of all, I loved hearing about your life experiences.

I’ve proudly told my friends about you over the years. How you served in World War II. How you retired from the Army Air Corp and USAA. How you were married to Grandma for 61 years, raising 7 children while stationed at 11 bases. How you took care of Grandma when she had Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease until she passed away, always with love and grace. That’s what I admire most.

And after all those years taking care of others, you finally made time for yourself. You traveled, you vacationed, you played golf. Eventually, you remarried and spent several wonderful years with Grandma Lou. 

I’m grateful that Sandy, Peyton, and Hudson got to know you and what an incredible man you were. Even in our last visit, you still had your humor and spirit. I’m glad that Janet was there to take care of you the last few years and be there with you in the end.

Even though you lived a long life, I learned from you that life is short…you have to make the most of it and love the ones closest to you. Thank you for being a remarkable example to me, my family, and everyone who knew you. You will be missed dearly.

And as you wrote in your letters and ended every phone call…”Cheerio” Grandpa.

I am so blessed and so very grateful to have had such a wonderful father.  You were the most loving, kind and generous person I’ve ever  known.  You loved us without judgement, and we always knew that we could come to you in difficult times.  It was my greatest honor to be there for you when you needed help yourself.  I love you and will miss you so much,  but take comfort knowing that you are in Gods loving hands now.

I am forever grateful that I had the opportunity to be taught how to bake by grandma and yourself. I remember spending every weekend learning to bake something new and my love for sweet treats continued to grow as  well as wanting to learn more, With everything you have taught me I can now pass down. I will forever miss you, you are finally home with grandma I love you!
