

Edward was born on December 9, 1938, to Angela Huron Galvan and William Galvan.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Angela Huron Galvan; his father, William Galvan; and his brothers, Arturo Lopez and Gilbert Galvan.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Guadalupe Galvan, with whom he shared 68 loving years of marriage; his children, Edward Galvan Jr. and wife Pamela and their children, Donna M. Galvan and her two daughters, Debra D. Galvan, and Ron R. Galvan, wife Julie Galvan, and their son; as well as several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Beatrice Garcia, Gloria Garcia, Viola Mendolia, and Mary Ann Moore.
Edward graduated from Tech High School in San Antonio, Texas. On June 21, 1958, he married Guadalupe Galvan at Sacred Heart Church, beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned 68 years.
He joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and later moved to Alhambra, California, where he spent more than 40 years building a beautiful family and creating countless cherished memories.
Determined and hardworking, Edward put himself through college and achieved the significant accomplishment of earning a degree from California State University, Los Angeles. During this chapter of his life, he taught high school history and coached football.
Edward worked for General Motors for a large portion of his career and was able to retire after many years of dedicated service.
He loved playing golf, but even more, he loved teaching the game to anyone willing to learn. He also enjoyed the excitement of horse racing and had the opportunity to experience it both in California and Texas. Edward had a lifelong passion for learning, and it was common to find him reading nonfiction books or the newspaper. He loved to travel, often taking day trips with his family to explore California, enjoy good food, and make lasting memories. He also treasured traveling back to San Antonio to visit family and reconnect with his roots.
A Celebration of Life for Edward will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, Texas 78148. Family and friends are warmly invited to join in sharing cherished memories and honoring the remarkable life of Edward Galvan.
