Florentina was born in El Campo de los Gonzalez, Canazas, Panama on September 23, 1943, to parents, Telesforo and Josefina Gonzalez.
Florentina loved gardening, travelling, going for walks, buying lottery tickets, The Price is Right (she never missed an episode), and board games. She also enjoyed drinking tea and eating Ferrero Roche chocolate.
Florentina began her young life as a domestic assistant working for several families in the former Canal Zone, Panama. There, she met her husband George and got married at La Iglesia Catolica de Santa Ana in Panama, May 10, 1968.
Together they embarked on a 29-year Air Force career that took them through the United States, coast to coast, driving to each duty station in a 1969 Dodge Polara and several military cargo planes. Eventually, they settled in San Antonio in 1993.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 57 years, George W. Davis; her son, George Christopher Davis; her daughter, Christina Davis Barton; and her two grandchildren, Parker and Jonathan Barton.
Our mother loved her children. She loved her family and if anyone needed help, she was always there to help them. She listened and gave advice, and although she was not a wealthy lady, you always left with a plate of food and a few dollars in your pocket.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Ret. Col. Jeanne Tofferi, MD, BAMC, for going above and beyond to help our mother.
Arrangements for Florentina have been entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Rd, Universal City, TX 78148.
Words of comfort and cherished memories may be shared with the family below in the “Add a Memory” section.
