

Gabriel O. Juarez, Jr., 75, went home to be with our Heavenly Lord and Savior on September 1, 2021 surrounded with his family at his bedside. “Gabe” as he was affectionately called by family and friends was born on August 15, 1946 to Gabriel Juarez, Sr. and Juanita Juarez in Harlingen, TX. He was their first born of 3 children: Gabe, Armando, and Viola. He is a graduate of Harlingen High School, in Harlingen, Texas, Class of 1965. He served honorably in the United States Air Force for four years. He graduated from Southwest Texas State University, in San Marcos, Texas, Class of 1973.
He is survived by his wife Gloria Juarez and 2 sons Gabe III and Greg Juarez, his mother Juanita Juarez, and brother Armando Juarez of San Antonio, TX. He had 3 nephews , 2 nieces, and 2 great-nephews, and 2 great-nieces. Preceding him in death are his father Gabriel Juarez, Sr. and sister Viola Carrington.
Gabriel was a member of O.L.P.H. Catholic Church, attended Adoration, and was the facilitator for the Divine Mercy group. He was one of the leaders of the Divine Cenacle at the Oblate Grotto for 15 years. He was a member of Military Veterans for Christ and of Men in Christ at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. He served on many ACTS, retreats and teams, and guided other parishes to set up their first ACTS retreats. He was a member of a local prayer group who met once a month and consisted of members from different parishes for 22 years.
Gabe will forever be remembered for his sense of humor, generosity, and friendliness towards others. He was a man of family, great faith, and devotion to bringing individuals closer to our Lord, especially through the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. He will also be remembered for his passion of helping others through the insurance industry and for his love of the game of golf, where he built many long-lasting friendships.
Visitation will be held from 11:00-11:30 am Monday, September 13, 2021 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 16075 N Evans Rd. Selma, with a rosary service to start at 11:30 am. The Funeral Mass for Gabe will be 12:00 pm the same day. He will be laid to rest with military honors following the mass at Holy Cross Cemetery, San Antonio. For the safety of everyone in attendance, the family kindly asks that everyone wear a mask while present at all services. Thank you for assistance in keeping everyone safe and healthy.
