Do something, even if it's wrong . . . we can always fix it.  Keep things moving, action, initiative, progress.  
Man, the Colonel should wore out those government issue pens!  Great great memories of our years working together!

George, there are no goodbyes between friends.  Wherever you are, you will always be in our hearts.  RIP, George.  Hope the after life has lots of amazing places for you to explore.  Will miss you terribly.

My 50+ year friendship with George began at M S U in 1963 and spanned over half a century.  We did some typically crazy things that people of college age are known to do.  The most memorable of these being our annual Christmas Break migrations to Michigan’s  U. P.

As we advanced in age & interests, George became a “world traveler”, but we somehow always maintained contact.  George married & I met Karen.  I married, & George & Karen met Chris, & the friendship continued, much to our delight.

George & Karen would visit us every year, sometimes twice in a year, during their trips to Michigan.   Following my retirement we were finally able to visit them in Texas. Always a visit to look forward to. 

George Westover, you were a good man and a great friend, and those of us who had the good fortune to know you, will miss you terribly, but we are better people for the experience.

God bless you my friend. You were one in a million.

George, my second cousin, was the brother that I never had.  Our bond began when we were in our early teen years when our families, his being in Lower Michigan and mine being in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, would visit each other.  As we moved on in life, the bond only strengthened  as we pursued our own paths toward adulthood.  

When George entered the Air Force and he began moving around the world, George and I kept our relationship alive by writing to each other, especially in our later years.   When George and Karen moved to Colorado, we, having just adopted out daughter from Korea, drove out from Michigan and started a new chapter in our special relationship.   We were always welcomed on our many trips south - Biloxi, MS. and San Antonio, TX.  

Whenever George embarked on his annual fishing trips to Michigan and whenever he and Karen came north for the Christmas Holidays, a stop over in Grand Rapids was a special time for Bev and me.  And it was never questioned that if I were to ask for help, George would do what he could.  That was so evident when my wife passed away in December, 2014.  George and Karen were here to share in our memorial service.   

George, my soul brother, you will be greatly missed.  Karen, know that you are loved and we share in your loss.

We have known Karen & George since we were stationed together at Incirlik AB, Turkey in the mid 1980's.  After our military careers,  George continued to  show his friendship by:  tutoring me in math when I went to college in my 40's, giving military-related books to our son because he knew Tim would enjoy them,  inviting us to his many wonderful Barbershop performances & dinners and always entertaining us with his wit & wisdom from the booth he manned at Wurstfest.  George was a one-of-a-kind professional, patriot, friend and mentor.  Our love and prayers go out to Karen.  We will miss him.  There is no doubt that he is in heaven now, giving orders, organizing people &  making God smile. 

As I remember George, as we were growing up he was a little pest.  He was always into something and one time we were playing Ragnar Le Viking I apparently parried and George thrusted and the end result was George’s sword going thru my left wrist.  
We really never knew how to thank George for the wonderful trips he set up for us.  Being able to play on all those famous courses in England.  We also got a big kick when he made the statement, “Here I am running the biggest air base in England and wasn’t able to get tickets to the stage show Cats.  You guys were here for 1 week and had front row seats".  We must say that George was a special guy and we were proud to have him as a close cousin.  I have to add, I was always told that angels had wings and if that’s the case, George most likely is in charge of the base they fly out of.

Colonel Geroge Westover left a legacy of leadership, caring and friendship.   Always ready to offer encouragement or sound advice to the multitude of  people he encountered on his journey through life.  GOD BLESS YOU GEORGE---YOU WILL BE MISSED.

Have known George and Karen since we were stationed at Incirlik, Turkey.  They have become
our very best friends since then.  Will miss George terribly.  He was a wonderful and caring
person. He will be missed.

I am honored and blessed to have called George my friend. I will never forget his kindness and support as I pursued my career in Air Force Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR).

It was great sadness I received the message of Col Westover's Passing, there are no words that I can say that will ease your pain.
He will be sadly missed by all of us old Club Managers.

Heartfelt condolences to Karen and others in George's family from Glenda and mmyself. A friend of some 20 years, I served with George on the SWD District Board, shared terrifying rides to Waco to coach the Hill Country Gentlemen Chorus (George always drove and bought dinner on the way up), good times at the Officer's Club at Randolph Officer's club with our mutual friend Larry Clemons and many other wonderful times together. George, rest in peace my good friend!

Heartfelt condolences to Karen and the rest of the Westover family.  George was a great friend and outstanding supporter of all barbershoppers and has left a lasting legacy across the Southwestern District, The Chordsmen, and Hill Country Chorus.  He will be greatly missed by all.

Colonel Westover is survived by his wife, Karen Westover; brother, Alton J Westover of Michigan, aunt, Betty Tamminen of California; cousins, Ray Hjelt of Michigan, Larry Tamminen and his wife Terese of Minnesota, Cheryl Renfors of Connecticut, Gail Weaver and her husband Dave of Wisconsin, Lori Manier and her husband Duane of Michigan, Dennis Black and his wife Laurie of Michigan, Marsha Holm and her husband James of Michigan, Vicky Crocker of Florida, Steven Westover of Texas and Susan Westover of Arizona.  He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Francis Nakamoto and his wife Ellen from Hawaii and cousin Nancy Kunishima, also from Hawaii.
