Ida Mae Brooks-King, 89, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Ida was born on June 3, 1931 in McKinney Texas to the late Alton Lou and Bertha Olien Brazeal.
She is survived by her son Greg Brooks (Michelle) and his kids, Gregory (Janelle), Brent, Kaitlyn and Sadie. She is preceded in death by her oldest son Jeff Brooks (Kathy) and survived by their kids, Carrie, Jeanette, Nick and Bubba. Ida is also survived by her dear sister Brenda Stovall (Sam).
Ida is preceded in death by her husband Jim Brooks (1995) and her late husband, Ed King (2020). She is also preceded in death by her sister Sharon (1959). Ida leaves behind a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mom was loved by all and had an amazing attitude throughout her life. She came from very poor roots just after the great depression and was the toughest lady I have ever known. Even when she was near death and was asked how you are doing, her response was, “I’ve never had it so good!” Mom had an amazing sense of humor and that humor was there right up till the end.
A Viewing will be held Wednesday, May 19th, from 6-8pm at Utah Valley Mortuary, 1966 West 700 North, Lindon, UT 84042.
A Viewing in Texas will be held Saturday, May 22nd, from 1-4pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Rd, Universal City, TX 78148.
Ida will be buried at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio Texas.
