Johanna was born on June 9, 1949, in Danville, Virginia, to Francis John Kelley and Eileen Lyons. She later graduated from Lowell High School in Lowell, Massachusetts, beginning a life devoted to caring for others and building a loving home wherever she went.
Johanna was first and foremost a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She also worked at the childcare center at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, Massachusetts, where her gentle spirit and natural warmth made a lasting impact on the children and families she served. It was at Hanscom AFB that she met the love of her life, Donald Lindsey. The two married and began a journey together that would take them to several Air Force bases across the United States, including three memorable years in West Germany, before eventually settling in Texas.
Johanna’s greatest joy was her family. She was caring, compassionate, and endlessly supportive. She treasured time spent with her children and loved creating a warm, welcoming home filled with laughter, good food, and meaningful conversation. She found happiness in cooking meals for those she loved and in quiet moments spent reading.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Francis John Kelley and Eileen Lyons.
Johanna leaves behind her devoted husband, Donald J. Lindsey; her children, Donald M. Lindsey, Ann M. Lindsey, and Brian C. Lindsey; nine grandchildren and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Laura Dorca of Miramar Home Care and Chaplain Clark Davis for their kindness, compassion, and support during this time.
Johanna’s gentle heart, loving spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
