

CWO 2 John G. Moran SR USA (Ret) passed away on Sept 19th, 2012 in Livonia Mi., at the age of 85. He was born on April 21, 1927 in Buffalo NY. He graduated from Bryant and Straton College with an Associate Degree in Business Administration. He was preceded in death by his mother Alberta Moran, step father Francis Moran, brother Ross Moran and Grandson, Mark Moran. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years Mary L. (Loftus) Moran; daughter Carolyn and her husband CMSgt. Jack Putalavage, USAF (Ret), Converse, TX; sons, John G. Moran Jr and wife Cathy, Livonia, Mi; Brigadier General James R. Moran USA (Ret) and wife Patricia, Fairfax Station, Va.; son CMSgt. F. Joseph Moran USAF (Ret), Niceville, Fla; and Judy Moran, Niceville, Fla. He is also survived by eleven loving grandchildren and nine great grandchildren along with numerous nephews, nieces and friends. John’s military career began in the Merchant Marine during WWII. He joined the US Army in 1946. He served 3 tours of duty in Korea, 1 tour in Vietnam, 1 tour in France and Germany along with many stateside assignments. Among his many decorations are a Bronze Star and an Air Medal. He retired from active duty on 30 Nov 1969. He drove commercial tour buses in the Northeast and Canada. He and Mary moved to Converse TX in 1996 to be with family. He was a quiet and gentle man who preferred to spend time with family more than anything. He continued to work as a school bus driver for NEISD and Judson ISD, retiring in 2007 at the age of 80. He was a life member of William M. Randolph American Legion Post #593 in Coverse. Viewing will be at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Rd, Universal City, TX 78148 on Thursday Sept 27th from 5 to 7 PM and The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Monica’s Catholic Church, 501 North Street, Converse, TX 78109 on Friday Sept. 28th at 11:30 AM with Interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full Military honors. In lieu of flower please make memorial donations to the St. Monica’s Building Fund.
