Jose Gomez Jr.

Jose Gomez, Jr., 70 of Universal City, Texas, formerly of San Antonio, Texas passed away November 5, 2024. He was born November 2, 1954, in Fort Sam Houston, Texas to Jose Gomez, Sr. and Maggie Irene Gonzalez.

Jose served in the US Navy from 1973 to 1977. He then served in the US Army from 1980 to 2006. After military retirement, Jose worked at Palo Alto College from 2008 to 2010. Later he worked at Northeast Lakeview College from 2010 to 2021. Jose loved reading historical warfare books, collecting tabletop games and watching classic films and television, especially westerns. Jose was a proud US Army Ranger with two combat jumps: Grenada in 1983 and Panama in 1989. Jose received the Purple Heart for actions in Grenada.

Jose is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Gomez Sr and Maggie Irene Gonzalez.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 51 years, Helen Gomez; daughter, Mary A. Johnson; son Daniel A. Gomez; brothers, Alan Gomez, Michael Gomez; sister, Belinda Turner; grandchildren, Adriana Gomez, Antonio Gomez, Dametria Johnson, Lyssa Johnson and Julia Gomez.

The family wishes to give special thanks and to express their heartfelt gratitude to Michael Hall, US Army Ret., Michael Eldred, US Army Ret. and to all their friends and relatives who have given them comfort and support in this time of need.
