Joseph Edward McCalla 64, of Lakehills, Texas passes away Sept. 5, 2016 at the Methodist Boerne Emergency Center in Boerne, Texas. Joe was born on May 5, 1952 in Ridgeway to the late Hughes and Bessie Godwin McCalla. He attended school at Ridgemont. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Sperry AS-12. He worked at various jobs before starting his own welding business. Joe’s favorite pastime was playing Blue Grass music, especially his banjo. Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his oldest brother John. Surviving are 2 brothers James L. McCalla of Live Oak, Texas and David (Sarah) McCalla of St. Mary’s, Georgia; 5 sisters Janice Long of Mt. Victory, Virginia, Artis of West Mansfield, Beverly (Roger) Jenkins of Lewistown, Mary Alice (Junior) Tevis of West Mansfield and Linda (Dick) Keller of Bellefontaine; 1 daughter Shannon Jo; 1 aunt Evelyn McCalla of Belle Center and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services for Joe will be at a later date. Price/McElroy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
