Justina Jorden Armes was born at Fort Dix, New Jersey on a beautiful Easter Sunday, April 18, 1963. From the time of birth until her high school graduation her family traveled within the United States and abroad as her father served in the US Army. Justina has always shared that one of her most favorite places she lived was when her father was stationed in Hanau Germany from 1970 to 1973.
Justina graduated from Petersburg high school in 1981, also the alma mater of the basketball great Carl Malone. Although earning numerous college scholarship awards, she chose to serve our country by joining the US Army. Justina loved her time in the Army. She would often say that she would do it all over again if given the opportunity. She had a 17 year career (cut short due to health issues), and blessed to still receive a full army retirement. Upon retirement, Justina went on to earn a bachelors and masters degree in social work from our Lady of the Lake University. She then worked as a social work counselor for the Judson Independent School District for six years.
Justina found the love of her life, Ronald in 1992, while attending her NCO advanced course at Fort Sam Houston. She often shared the story how immediately upon eye contact she fell in love! After only 90 days, they both knew they were destined to marry. Ronald was Justina‘s best friend and soulmate.
Left to cherish her memories are her Mother- Dallis Ann Jorden (Albert deceased) Smithfield, NC, her husband- Ronald W Armes, her oldest daughter, Turquoise Iman Horton, Augusta, GA- a blessing birthed out of her first marriage, her youngest daughter- Logan Cherrell Armes, born of the union with Ronald. Justina has two stepchildren; LauSaundra Nicole Armes, Baltimore, MD and Antwyon Runnel Armes, Fayetteville, NC.
The two little loves of Justina’s heart were her two grandchildren - Braelynn Gabriell Armes-Scott, nickname by Justina as “ladybug” and Kaedyn Anthony Armes-Randall known as “KK”!!
Justina has one older brother, Shelton Cannon (Jemita) Greenville, NC and two sisters-Veronica Jorden (Stacey) of Orlando, FL and Antoinette McPhearson (Melvin) of Clayton, NC and a brother Shelton Cannon. She also has a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Homegoing service will be held at Colonial Funeral Home, located at 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148, on November 22, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.
A Committal Service with Military Honors will take place at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., TX 78209, on November 26, 2025, from 10:45 am to 11:05 am.
