

Marvin Myers Graham was born in Lowell, Benton County, Arkansas on August 17, 1930 to Ras D. Graham and Carrie Viola Graham. The last of seven children, he had three brothers and three sisters. Marvin moved to Monahans, Texas in 1945 and graduated from Monahans High School in 1949. In December of 1949 he went to work for Furr Foods Grocery in Monahans, Texas and worked there until March of 1950. On May 4, 1950 he entered the United States Navy at Albuquerque, New Mexico. He attend AK Class “A” School NATTC as an Aviation Store Keeper in Memphis, Tennessee. Once he finished his training he served aboard the USS BOXER (CV-21) at sea during the Korean War Operations. Due to serious illness he received an Honorable Discharge May, 1, 1952 and returned to Monahans, Texas to recuperate. He began working in the United States Civil Service in 1953 and became a fire fighter at Pyote AFB, Monahans, Texas which eventually brought him to Laughlin AFB in Del Rio Texas in 1962. Marvin worked at Laughlin AFB until he retired from the United States Civil Service in August 1980. In 1981 he began as manager at Railway Feed Store in Del Rio Texas and later became the owner and worked in the store until it closed in 2010.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ras D Graham and Carrie Viola Graham. Six siblings: Evelyn Anderson, Carrol K. Graham, Vance Dee Graham, Anabelle G. Lowry, Harold D. Graham and Sarah N. Graham. He was the last of his generation. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Irene Graham of Cibolo, Texas. Their children: Allen K. Graham and wife Katie of Austin, Texas; Bryan L. Graham and fiancé Jennifer Hopper of La Vernia, Texas; Kathleen Graham, of Austin, Texas; Robin Sullivan and partner Colleen O’Connor Harris of Cibolo Texas; Kimberly May and husband Craig M. May of New Caney Texas. Marvin and Irene have 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday February 20, 2016 at 11:00am First Christian Church, 2101 N. Main Street, Del Rio, Texas.
