Mary Lucetta Foote Miller, beloved wife of Alfred M. Miller, Brigadier General (ret.) went to be with our Lord on 18 January, 2015 at the age of 83. Mary was pre-deceased by her husband Alf Miller on September 1, 2008. Mary was born in Gainesville, Florida April 26, 1931, the daughter of Dean and Mrs. Perry A. Foote. Mary graduated from the University of Florida in 1952. Mary married Alf Miller, whom she met in Heidelberg, Germany in 1954 and they were married 53 years. She is survived by three sons: Allan Mark, Paul Andrew and David Bruce; and two daughters-in-law, Cathy and Linda. Grandchildren include Jennifer (Miller) Wilson and Rachel Hemphill and great grandchildren; two brothers, Perry Foote, and Roger Foote and sister-in-law, Maralyn Foote and their families of Gainesville, Florida. As a military wife, Mary made thirty-five moves, including those across both oceans. Mary’s heart was to bring others to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ—“to know Him and make Him known” was her life. Always a volunteer, she spent years in military hospitals as well as support activities in other countries. Mentoring young mothers through church programs has been her great joy. She served as a pastoral visitor in the wards at Brooke Army Medical Center through the Chaplains Office and considered that a particular blessing. A celebration service will be held at Wayside Chapel followed by a reception on 2 February, 2015 at 1pm. Interment will precede this service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on 2 February, 2015 at 10: 30 am. Arrangements are with Colonial Mortuary. Those wishing to make a memorial in lieu of flowers may do so to Wycliff Bible Translators, Torchbearers International or Discipleship Tape Ministries or a charity of your choice.
