Mingya earned a master’s degree in theology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She faithfully served as a Methodist minister, sharing her calling in Fiji, the Chinese Fellowship in Fiji, Houston Hospice, and the Schertz Senior Center. Her life’s work reflected her deep commitment to spreading God’s word and caring for others.
Mingya had a passion for traveling, gardening, and sharing her faith. She was full of life, deeply loved nature, and had a joyful spirit—often singing wherever she went.
She was preceded in death by Rev. Dr. Finau Dyer Tu’uholoaki. She is survived by her beloved children, daughter Zenata Simmons and son Griffin Simmons; and her cherished grandchildren, Theodore Teng, Gypsy Carter, and Tigerlily Carter.
The family extends special thanks to the Teng family, Prasad family, Armystrong family, and the Young family for their love, support, and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made through a donation to Zenata Simmons.
