

M/Sgt. Mitchel Dean Bryant, USAF, (Ret.) passed away on September 15, 2012 at the age of 93. He was born on January 22, 1919 in Haynesville, La. Mitchel was preceded in death by his loving wife Mabel Bryant; survived by his children, Sherry Nelson, Mitchel F. Bryant, Kirby Bryant, wife Susan; grandchildren, Rodney Wayne Nelson, wife Amy, Kim Selsor, husband Ronnie, Vicki Brewer, Heather Billow, husband Matt, Janet Brehm, husband Todd and Samantha Maynor, husband Rob; and great-grandchildren, Zachary, Madilyn, Kaley, Jacob, Ashley, Alexandra, Taylor, Abigail, and Jackson. Mitchel first joined the Army Air Corp before transferring to the Air Force after it was established in 1947. He was a proud WWII and Korean War Veteran. Mitchel was an aircraft mechanic working on bomber aircraft while serving in both Europe and the Phillipines. After serving our country for 26 years, Mitchel retired from the Air Force and was co-owner of the Gulf Station on Pat Booker Rd. He was a resident of Universal City for over 50 years where he maintained the family homestead. That home was the gathering place for 3 generations of families to share holidays, birthdays and to listen to his wonderful stories of times gone by. Mitchel a/k/a Paw Paw had the most wonderful way of making people laugh with his vibrant stories, his kind ways and his hundreds of bags of candy for his grandkids and great grandkids. Paw Paw had a lifelong love of baseball and Ford cars, often talking about his “Fast Ford”. Paw Paw was dearly loved by his family and we will all miss his laugh, his stories and his two-handed wave. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., and the funeral service will be held on Monday, September 24, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Colonial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
