Patricia Louise Kraus entered into eternal life with Jesus Christ on August 28, 2024. She lived a wonderful 89 years, 70 of them spent with her devoted husband, John Herbert Kraus.
Their beautiful marriage stood as an example of their unwavering faith in Our Lord and Savior. Patty leaves behind a rich legacy of 8 children, 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love and faith she and John instilled in their family.
Patty was born and raised in San Antonio. She attended St. Patrick Catholic School through 8th grade, graduated from St. Gerard Catholic High School in 1952, and then attended San Antonio Business College for two years.
Patty and John were married on July 3, 1954, at St. Gerard Catholic Church. They spent the next 27 years in the United States Army, moving 14 times throughout their service to our great country. Following military retirement, they settled back in San Antonio, where Patty began working for the Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center.
In their retirement years, Patty and John loved to RV. Patty's favorite vacation was a 9-week RV trip through the northern US and Canada with her sister and brother-in-law.
Patty is survived by her husband, John Herbert Kraus; her children, Karen (Rick) Stockstill, Kathy Lynch-Teofilak, Lynne Kraus (Bob Mutz), Doug (Sherri) Kraus, Janice (Mike) Troy, Joyce (Ed) Taylor, and Angie (Johnny) Rayburg; her daughter-in-law Rebecca Kraus; her siblings, Bobby (Mary Anne) Wegmann, Bill (Marie) Wegmann, and Dianne (Allen) Case; her brother-in-law Frank Breza; and 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Patty was preceded in death by her son John Kraus, Jr.; her parents, Gene and Helen Wegmann; her birth father, Bert Reiwald; her siblings, Gene Wegmann and Jeanette Breza; and her son-in-law Ted Teofilak.
We are sincerely thankful for the incredible staff at the Army Residence Community and VITAS Healthcare for their compassionate care of Patty, John, and our family.
A rosary will be held on Wednesday, September 18, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 6680 Crestway Dr., San Antonio, TX 78239, followed by a funeral mass at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. Alex presiding, and a committal service at 1:45 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX 78209. A reception will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Army Residence Community, Lakeside Landing-Heroes Hall, 10000 Rhineland, San Antonio, TX 78239, where everyone is welcome to join us in remembering the legacy of Patty Kraus.
