Sorry to hear of the passing of Father Paddy.  He always visited  his aunt Judy and family, in Clondra,  Co. Longford, when he returned on holidays to Ireland.  Mary Burke-Doyle.

Msgr. Flanagan was an exceptional and gifted homilist. 
There always was something to learn when he preached. 

Fr. Flanagan was also a friend and a good conversationalist that shared memories of his many global trips. 

A good man and a good priest. God bless you Fr. Flanagan.

Find memories of Fr. Paddy visiting  us together with our late mother Mae,  in 
Whitehall, Ireland. His visits were always fun.  He was a loyal cousin to our late father Eddie. Ar Dheis De ar a Anam.

We were greatly saddened at the passing of
our former Pastor  of so many years  at St Monica’s . We offer our deepest condolences to family and friends. He would tell us at Mass that he would be heading up to New York for weddings, baptisms whatever the need.
We have many fond memories of Fr. Pat.
He encouraged me to ‘just go to their meeting  
and see for yourself.’ Shortly after that I took 
his advice and soon joined the St Vincent de Paul ministry. He was a faithful attendee at our 
meetings and gave us wonderful support.
When we had a relative at death’s door and no 
Catholic priest on duty that evening at the hospital I asked the staff to call Fr Pat. It
was 11 pm . He came and administered the Last Rites to Raul’s step father.  We were very
grateful to him.
We all have lost a good and faithful Servant of the Lord. May he rest peacefully.

I knew Father Flanagan when he was an Assistant  Pastor at
Blessed Sacrament in San Antonio.  Father and I had many discussions, once he gave me a Novena and told me to pray for a good husband. It worked. Father married us 58 years ago. It worked again when I prayed for the return of my Husband from Viet-Nam.
For years we had wondered where Father was, then by chance we were at Sts. Peter and Paul one Saturday waiting for Mass and were looking at the Pastors pictures and  there he was , not long after he came to our Church  as a visiting Priest and we took a picture of us together.
To his family and friends he was a wonderful Priest and a caring person. May God grant him peace and a special place in Heaven.

Father Flanagan will be deeply missed by both my honey, Richard and I.  He was an awesome and pleasant neighbor at the Woodmont Townhomes.  Father was a friendly, down-to-earth, super cool and very talkative individual. :)

To the family of Father... We are sorry for your loss.  Our deepest condolences.

Still have copies of the original 10 homilies Fr. Pat shared with the members of St. Monica when he was assigned to us as Pastor.  And since I was his first woman Lector , I inquired as to why there were only male Lectors asked to read at the Penitential Services.  My answer came at the next Service, when he walked up to the pew where my husband Tom (another Irishman) were sitting and  said "Will you be my Reader ?"  
Later that year, when I was feeling low,  I met with him and said "Fr. Pat , I believe that life is filed with peaks and valleys..and I am in a valley right now"  He said "What makes you think that you are different than anyone else"....When  I asked if he ever felt that way ...and he said yes.  Then I asked...what is this St. Vincent de Paul all about and he answered...the meeting  is on Tuesday at 2...be there!   That was  about 35 years ago...I never left...while he was our Pastor , he never missed a meeting.  Thank you Fr. Pat for your encouragement and introduction to this beautiful Ministry  which has changed my life over the years.  You are an authentically honest human being and I have been blessed to have known you

On behalf of the residents and staff of The Village at Incarnate Word I offer our sympathy to Msgr. Flanagan's family and friends. It was our privilege to care for him the final month of his earthly life. I can't think of a better day for someone to arrive at the gates of Heaven than on the 63rd anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood! May God grant each of you peace and comfort as you mourn the loss of your beloved, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. The souls of the just are in the hands of God and no torment shall touch them.

Fr. Pat was a wonderful friend.  We had long discussions about everything.  A memory that stays with me was Ash Wednesday.  There was not a lector for the mass so he had me read that day. When it came time for ashes he gave me a HUGE swipe down the front of my nose! He gave me a big smile and chuckled. Then he said to me "You're not supposed to wipe 'em off.  I was on the altar and didn't know what to do. After mass he laughed so hard. He said he was surprised I left the swipe on my nose.  He was joking with me all the time!  He gave me wonderful life advice and guidance, truly a beautiful soul. 
I love you, miss you, pray for you and cherish the memories I have with you.

Liturgy of Christian Burial

He is survived by his sister Maude, his brother Anthony, nieces and nephews, Gerard, Patrick, Sean, Maura Billy, Sarah and Brenda, his lifelong friend Sr. Sylvia Schmidt and a wide circle of friends.
