

"A very good year!" The youngest of five siblings, he was also the most mischievous. Raised
in Laredo, he was a proud graduate of Martin High School, Class of '56, averaging grades of
A's and B's. Ramon was a member of the National Honor Society and the Student Council.
He became Company Commander in the R.O.T.C. during his Senior year. He enjoyed
attending class reunions at Martin High.
In 1960, Ramon volunteered for military service, and was inducted into the U.S.
Army. He went through Basic Training in Colorado, then he was sent to Fort Gordon,
Georgia for Military Police training. Upon graduation, he was transferred to Fort Sam
Houston here in San Antonio. He was Honorably Discharged from the Army in June, 1965.
Ramon later joined the Navy, and subsequently, the Army Reserve. In all, he served his
country faithfully for 32 years.
Ramon had three special women in his life. First was Olga, Rose's mother. He was
then married to Mary Ann Guajardo in 1962. After they divorced, he met his next love,
Barbara Stines, and they were together for 41 years.
Ramon Perez m will always be remembered for his many acts of kindness and
generosity, giving time and money to his favorite causes, especially those supporting veterans
of the United States military. He was equally generous to friends and family. He was known
for his love of children, that great sense of humor, and his dedication to family, often putting
their needs before his own. To Ramon, everyone he met became family. He was a loving
father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and will be dearly missed by his loved ones, including
his church families at Lord of the Harvest Church and Grandview Baptist Church.
Ramon Perez m was preceeded in death by his parents, Ramon Perez, Jr. and Ofelia
Barrera Perez, brothers, Ignacio and Rolando, sister, Minerva, and by his ex-wife, Mary Ann
Perez, and his beloved Barbara Stines. He is survived by his sons, Ramon IV and Tannon
Andrew Perez, his daughter, Rose Marie Gay, sister, Emma Ornelas, granddaughters, Allyson
Gay and Ashley Travis, and great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Ivy, as well as numerous
nieces and nephews, by whom he was regarded as a second father.
